For the kids party I decided to do a vintage-y theme. I did all of the decor myself out of recycled materials mostly & made a hot air balloon cake. We got a little pool for the kids to play in and they had a ball! Jessica took photos in our “photo booth” of everyone and I think it turned out really cute!
We got the kids bikes for their birthday so we took them out riding that night, they did pretty well! Rid got a little scrape on his knee- guess it’s time to get some knee pads!
Kaiya hasn’t had her hair cut in like a year and half or more and it’s been a while for Ridley. We took them to get their haircuts and they look so adorable! Kaiya got a few inches cut off and show did Ridley! He had a pretty crazy little mohawk going on there!
The kids annual paid for haircuts, just in time for their birthday party!
We watched the fireworks from our front lawn that were being shot up at our local Schnepf farms. It was great not having to leave the house and be in tons of crowds of people and just being able to see it from our house, we had a good time, minus all the wind. It was so windy this year and it made it pretty hard to do our fireworks, but we managed! It was pretty fun. We had ice cream afterwards, which the kiddos loved!
Matts dad passed away a few months ago and we weren’t able to make it to the memorial. So, Matt’s sister Laura & brother Jacob planned a trip with us to go to Wyoming to do our own little memorial. Jacob, at the last minute ended up not being able to come unfortunately but we ended up still going and surprisingly- under the circumstances we had a nice time. We all enjoyed each others company and don’t get to spend much alone time together w/ out the kids there so it was good to spend time with Laura & Ralph and get to know them a little better.
We did a video slideshow of photos of their dad and the family & watched it from the cemetery and after Matt and Laura said some really nice words about their dad.
We went to a really cool museum while there and visited some other gravesites of some relatives of theirs. We also just relaxed and chilled at the park and talked. We ate at a lot of really good places as well.
Had a great fathers day, made breakfast for Matt, hung with the kids, we all got naps- except Kaiya of course! Then went & got a free daddy meal at Chipotle for Matt & yogurt! Yum-o! He loved his gifts- but most of all his man apron! Made from some pants & an old star wars t-shirt that’s too big now!
When GG came for a visit, we went out to lunch w/ her & she took the kids to the Mesa childrens museum. It was a lot of fun- had a hard time getting the kids to stop playing w/ the large wooden castle blocks! Guess we had better get some of those!
